Coaches/Staff



Daniel Bellino is the Founder, Director, and Head Coach of the Bronx Flash Track Club.  He currently works in the Office of Fitness and Health Education for the New York City Department of Education.  Prior to his current position, Daniel was a teacher at P.S. 87 for nearly five years.  He is a USATF Level 1 certified coach and a National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) certified instructor.

Marsha McKinney is currently Head Coach of the PS 87 elementary school practice site.  Mrs. McKinney has been a coach with the elementary school team since 2004.  She is a 5th grade teacher at P.S. 87 and has a son on the middle school team.

Mike James also began as an Assistant Coach with the Bronx Flash in 2007.  He has a son on the elementary team.  Mike is a former All-American sprinter at the University of Miami. 

 

Thomas Yahn is currently the Dean of Students at MS 203.  As Head Coach of MS 203's track, field, and fitness program, Mr. Yahn works closely with the Bronx Flash to identify student-athletes interested in furthering their track and field opportunities.  Mr. Yahn ran track and played football for Penn State University and then went on to play professionally for the New England Patriots.  Read more about the incredible man that Mr. Yahn is in this New York Times article, "A Beacon in the South Bronx."

K. Aletha Maybank, MD, MPH serves as Academic Achievement Coordinator and community health advisor for the Bronx Flash.  She is currently the Director of the Suffolk County Department of Health Services Office of Minority Health.  Dr. Maybank is a Board Certified Pediatrician and Board Eligible Preventive Medicine doctor.
